# Digital marketing glossary

The Roicool glossary explains SEO, GEO, advertising, measurement and CRM terms in short, plain definitions. Each entry says what the term is, how it works and why it matters, and links to related terms and the matching service. It is written so marketing and sales teams share one vocabulary.

## A

### a 301 Redirect

A 301 redirect is the HTTP status code that tells clients a URL has moved permanently to a new address; it automatically sends both visitors and Googlebot to the new location. Google treats a 301 as a strong signal and a 302 as a weak one. 301 and 308 are permanent, 302 and 307 are temporary. Google recommends keeping redirects in place for generally at least one year.

[a 301 Redirect](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/301-redirect)

### a Canonical URL

A canonical URL is the preferred version, among several pages with the same or very similar content, that you want search engines to index and rank. It is declared with the rel=canonical tag; it clears up duplicate content confusion, consolidates scattered ranking signals on one page and makes sure crawl budget is spent on the main page rather than on unimportant copies.

[a Canonical URL](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/canonical-url)

### a Cookie

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves to your device through your browser. When you return to the site, the browser sends the file back to the server, and the site uses the unique ID inside it to remember you and your preferences. Cookies are used for session management, shopping carts and language settings, personalization and ad analytics. Cookies are not programs or viruses and cannot run code.

[a Cookie](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/cookies)

### a Favicon

A favicon is the small icon that represents a website in browser tabs, bookmark lists and some search results. It is a branding element rather than a ranking factor: it helps visitors pick your tab out of a crowded row, signals that a site is maintained, and carries brand identity into places where no other visual can reach.

[a Favicon](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/fav-icon)

### a Heatmap

A heatmap is a data visualization technique that shows user interactions on a web page in color: the areas with the most engagement appear in warm colors and those with the least in cool colors. With click, scroll and move maps you can see at a glance where users click, how far down they get and where they get stuck.

[a Heatmap](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/heatmap)

### a Keyword and Why Does It Matter So Much

A keyword is the word or phrase a user types into a search engine; it can be a single word or a longer phrase of several words. These terms drive the targeting of both SEO content and PPC campaigns. Because keywords are grouped by length and user intent, choosing the right ones affects ad budget efficiency as much as visibility.

[a Keyword and Why Does It Matter So Much](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/keyword)

### a Landing Page

A landing page is a standalone page built for one marketing campaign and one goal. Unlike a website, which invites exploration, a landing page removes choices so the visitor can only convert or leave. It is where paid traffic arrives, and its single-mindedness is the reason it converts better than a general page.

[a Landing Page](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/landing-page)

### a Lead

A lead is a potential customer who has shown interest in a business by sharing contact details or engaging in a way that signals future buying intent. Leads sit at the first stage of the sales funnel: they are not customers yet, and how they are qualified and followed up decides how many ever become one.

[a Lead](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/lead)

### a Marketing Funnel

A marketing funnel is a model that breaks into stages the journey a person takes from first encountering a brand to buying and becoming a loyal customer. Traditionally it consists of awareness, interest, consideration and conversion; modern approaches add loyalty and advocacy. Each stage calls for different content, tactics and success metrics.

[a Marketing Funnel](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/marketing-funnel)

### a SERP

SERP stands for search engine results page. It is the page a user sees after submitting a query to a search engine, and it consists of organic results earned through SEO and paid results bought through advertising. Knowing features such as paid ads, the featured snippet, the local pack and the knowledge panel tells you which content format will make you visible.

[a SERP](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/serp)

### a Testimonial

A testimonial is a written or recorded statement from a satisfied customer that confirms the value of your product or service. Unlike a review, which is usually unsolicited and lives on a third-party site, a testimonial is something you request and feature in your own marketing as curated social proof.

[a Testimonial](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/testimonials)

### a Unique Selling Proposition

A USP (unique selling proposition) is the unique, defensible benefit that sets a product or service apart from its competitors in the eyes of the target customer. It is not a catchy slogan or a piece of ad copy but the core strategy of the business. A strong USP lets you escape price competition, focus your marketing messages on a single point and attract the right customers.

[a Unique Selling Proposition](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/usp)

### A/B test

An A/B test shows two versions of a page, ad or email to randomly split audiences in the same period and measures which one performs better on a chosen goal, such as clicks, form fills or sales. The result is read only once enough data shows the difference is not down to chance.

[A/B test](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/a-b-test)

### AdBlock

An ad blocker is software that detects and stops requests to ad servers while a page loads. It works two ways: filter lists such as EasyList block known ad requests, and element hiding recognises ad containers by their HTML or CSS identifiers and removes them from view. People install them for cleaner, faster pages, lower data use and protection against malicious ads.

[AdBlock](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/adblocker)

### Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a performance-based marketing model in which the person or company promoting a product earns a commission on each sale, click or form submission. It involves four actors: the merchant, the affiliate, the customer and the affiliate network. Tracking runs through a link unique to each affiliate and a cookie set in the browser on click.

[Affiliate Marketing](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/affiliate-marketing)

### an Advertorial

An advertorial is paid promotional content presented in the format of an editorial article. Instead of a direct sales message it tells a story or solves a problem, making the product a natural part of the narrative. The format sits inside content marketing but differs from it: an advertorial is advertising and must be labelled as such.

[an Advertorial](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/advertorial)

### an MQL

An MQL (marketing qualified lead) is a lead that the marketing team has qualified as ready to hand over to the sales team. What makes a lead an MQL is not gut feeling but a fit and engagement score that crosses a predefined threshold. The threshold, the handoff procedure and the expected response time are defined in an SLA written jointly by marketing and sales.

[an MQL](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/mql)

### Anchor Text

Anchor text is the visible, clickable text of a hyperlink; it tells users where they will go and tells search engines what the target page is about. Its types include exact match, partial match, branded, generic and naked URL. For external links we recommend a natural, varied profile; for internal links, descriptive, keyword-focused text.

[Anchor Text](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/anchor-text)

## B

### B2B marketing

B2B marketing is the marketing companies do to promote and sell their products and services to other companies rather than to individual consumers. Buying decisions are made by a group of people, over a longer process and usually with a sales team involved, so marketing and sales have to work together.

[B2B marketing](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/b2b-marketing)

### Backlink

A backlink is a link from one website to another. Search engines treat backlinks as a sign that the linked page is referenced by others; the source of the link, its topical relevance and its place in the content matter more than the number of links.

[Backlink](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/backlink)

### BigQuery export

BigQuery export is the Google Analytics 4 feature that sends raw event data to BigQuery, Google's data warehouse, daily or as a stream. It lets you query the data with SQL and join it with ad and CRM data, without the retention, sampling and threshold limits of the GA4 interface. It is also available on standard GA4 properties.

[BigQuery export](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/bigquery-export)

### Black Hat SEO

Black hat SEO is the set of aggressive, unethical techniques that break search engine guidelines to manipulate rankings. Keyword stuffing, cloaking, hidden text and link schemes are the most common examples. It can win rankings in the short term, but it leads to manual or algorithmic penalties, removal from the index and damage to brand reputation. The sustainable path is white hat SEO.

[Black Hat SEO](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/black-hat-seo)

### Bounce Rate

Bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who view a single page on your site and leave without any interaction; it is calculated by dividing single-page visits by total visits. It is not a direct Google ranking factor, but users clicking a result and immediately returning signals that the page doesn't meet the search intent, which affects rankings indirectly.

[Bounce Rate](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/bounce-rate)

### Brand identity

Brand identity is the set of elements that define how a brand describes itself and wants to be seen: positioning, values, tone of voice, name, logo, colours and typography. Brand image is how the audience actually perceives it; a consistent identity brings perception closer to intent.

[Brand identity](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/brand-id)

## C

### Call-to-Action

A call to action is the element that tells a visitor exactly what to do next — buy, subscribe, download or get in touch. It is the bridge between interest and action, and it carries the whole weight of a page's conversion goal. A CTA can be a button, a link, a line of text or a form.

[Call-to-Action](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/cta)

### CAPI

CAPI (Conversions API) is an interface that lets you send conversion and event data to ad platforms from the company's server or CRM instead of the browser pixel. The term is used most often for the Meta Conversions API; platforms such as LinkedIn and TikTok have similar server-side interfaces. It works alongside the pixel.

[CAPI](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/capi)

### CDP

A CDP (Customer Data Platform) is software that collects customer data from a company's different sources (website, app, CRM, ecommerce, support), unifies it at the person level and sends those unified profiles to marketing and advertising tools as segments. It is designed to be used directly by marketing teams.

[CDP](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/cdp)

### Clickbait

Clickbait is a content marketing tactic that uses overly sensational, emotional or misleading headlines and images to pull visitors into content. It earns clicks in the short term through the curiosity gap and emotional triggers; but when the content doesn't deliver on the headline's promise, bounce rate rises, time on page drops and brand credibility wears away.

[Clickbait](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/clickbait)

### Cold outreach

Cold outreach is contacting prospects you have not been in touch with before, through personalized email and usually phone and LinkedIn steps as well, in order to start a sales conversation. In B2B it targets people selected by the ideal customer profile, with short, personal, value-focused messages.

[Cold outreach](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/cold-outreach)

### Consent Mode

Consent Mode is Google's mechanism for passing the consent choice a visitor makes in a cookie banner to Google Analytics, Google Ads and other Google tags. Its current version, Consent Mode v2, uses four parameters (analytics\_storage, ad\_storage, ad\_user\_data and ad\_personalization), and tags behave according to the consent state.

[Consent Mode](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/consent-mode)

### Core Web Vitals

Core Web Vitals are the three metrics Google uses to measure a web page's user experience: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) for loading, Interaction to Next Paint (INP) for responsiveness and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) for visual stability. They are measured with real-user data.

[Core Web Vitals](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/core-web-vitals)

### Cost Per Click

CPC (cost per click) is the average cost you pay for each click on your ad, found by dividing total ad cost by total clicks. A campaign that spends 1,000 TL (Turkish lira) and gets 500 clicks has a CPC of 2 TL. It depends not only on your bid but also on keyword competition, Quality Score, Ad Rank and landing page experience.

[Cost Per Click](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/cpc)

### CPA

CPA (cost per action or cost per acquisition) is the average amount you pay to get one conversion; it is found by dividing total conversion cost by total conversions. Google Ads reports it as Avg. CPA and accepts it as a bidding goal as Target CPA. The CPA of the same campaign changes with the attribution model and conversion window you choose.

[CPA](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/cpa)

## D

### Data enrichment

Data enrichment is filling in missing details on contact and company records in the CRM or in a list (title, company size, industry, contact details, technologies used) from external data sources. In B2B it is used to build target lists, score leads, route them to the right rep and personalize messages.

[Data enrichment](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/data-enrichment)

### Data warehouse

A data warehouse is a database that brings a company's data from different systems together in one place, in an organized structure, for analysis and reporting. In marketing, it is where ad platform, analytics, CRM and sales data are combined; Google BigQuery, Snowflake and Amazon Redshift are common examples.

[Data warehouse](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/data-warehouse)

### DKIM

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) is an email authentication method in which the sending server adds a digital signature to each email with a private key, and the receiving server verifies that signature with the public key published in the domain's DNS. It proves the message was not altered in transit and was sent with the domain's authorization.

[DKIM](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/dkim)

### DMARC

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance) is an email authentication standard that lets a domain owner tell receiving servers what to do with emails that fail SPF or DKIM checks and are not aligned with the sender address, and receive authentication reports. It is published as a TXT record in the domain's DNS.

[DMARC](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/dmarc)

### Duplicate Content

Duplicate content is the same or substantially similar content appearing at more than one URL, either on the same site or across different sites. Because search engines can't decide which version to index and rank, ranking strength gets split and crawl budget is wasted. The fix is usually a 301 redirect, a canonical tag or noindex.

[Duplicate Content](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/duplicate-content)

## E

### Email deliverability

Email deliverability is the ability of the emails you send to reach the recipient's inbox rather than the spam folder. It is determined by authentication records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), sending domain and IP reputation, spam complaint and bounce rates, list quality, sending volume and content.

[Email deliverability](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/email-deliverability)

## F

### Facebook Advertising

Facebook advertising (Meta Ads) is the system that lets advertisers show paid ads to a specific target audience on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and the Audience Network. Targeting by demographics, interests, behavior and location means the budget reaches people with real potential interest in the product. Campaign objective, audience definition, budget, creative and ongoing optimization are the core steps to success.

[Facebook Advertising](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/facebook-advertising)

### Frequency Capping

Frequency capping is the setting that limits how many times an ad can be shown to a single user within a given time frame. It prevents the ad fatigue caused by seeing the same ad over and over, spreads the budget across a wider audience instead of people who have already seen the ad without engaging, and protects click-through and conversion rates.

[Frequency Capping](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/frequency-cap)

## G

### GDPR

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is the legal framework that sets strict rules for processing the personal data of European Union citizens; it took effect on 25 May 2018. It concerns not only companies in the EU but every business that processes EU citizens' data. It rests on seven core principles and provides for heavy fines calculated on turnover when it is violated.

[GDPR](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/gdpr)

### Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a free web analytics service for analyzing website traffic and user behavior in detail. It shows where visitors come from, which pages they move through and how often defined goals are completed. We use it to see which marketing channels work, to guide content strategy and to spot technical problems.

[Google Analytics](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/google-analytics)

### Google Keyword Planner

Google Keyword Planner is a free keyword research tool built into your Google Ads account. It helps you discover new keyword ideas and see estimated search volumes, competition levels, and click and cost forecasts. It is used for organic content planning as much as for ad campaigns, and you can narrow the data with location and date-range filters.

[Google Keyword Planner](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/google-keyword-planner)

### GTM engineering

GTM engineering (go-to-market engineering) is the discipline of turning sales and marketing tasks such as finding target accounts, data enrichment, scoring, personalization and routing into automated workflows using data tools, the CRM and automation platforms. GTM here stands for go-to-market, not Google Tag Manager.

[GTM engineering](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/gtm-engineering)

## H

### How to Create an Irresistible Freebie

A freebie is a free digital product that solves an urgent problem for your target audience in exchange for their contact details; it can be a PDF guide, a template, a checklist, a video lesson or a free consultation. A good freebie is specific, quick to consume and connected to your main product. Beyond growing an email list, it is the first step in building trust.

[How to Create an Irresistible Freebie](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/freebie)

### How to Write a Meta Title and Meta Description

The meta title is a page's official title, set in the head section of its HTML, and it is the main clickable text in search results; the meta description is the 150-160 character summary shown beneath it. The title is one of the strongest on-page SEO signals; the description is not a direct ranking factor but contributes indirectly by influencing click-through rate. Together, these two tags are your site's shop window in search results.

[How to Write a Meta Title and Meta Description](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/meta-title)

### Hreflang

Hreflang is an HTML attribute that tells search engines about the different language or regional versions of the same content on a site. Set up correctly, it stops search engines from treating those pages as duplicate content and shows each user the version that matches their language and region. It can be implemented in the page head, in the HTTP header or in the XML sitemap, and the tags must be reciprocal.

### ICP

An ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) describes the shared traits of the customer companies that get the most value from a B2B company's product or service and bring the most value back: industry, size, country, technology, budget and problem, for example. A persona, by contrast, describes the people inside those companies.

[ICP](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/icp)

### Intent data

Intent data is behavioral signals showing that a company or person is researching a specific product or topic. First-party intent data comes from visits to your own site; third-party intent data comes from research behavior observed across providers' content networks. In B2B it is used to prioritize accounts.

[Intent data](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/intent-data)

### Internal Linking

Internal linking means linking from one page of a site to another page on the same site. It helps search engines discover pages, distributes authority between them, communicates the site hierarchy and builds topical coherence. Done with the right anchor text and contextual placement, it makes a real difference for both crawlability and user experience.

## L

### Lead Generation

Lead generation is the process of attracting strangers and turning them into identified prospects who have shown interest in your product or service. It usually works through a value exchange: you offer something useful — a guide, a webinar, a trial — and the visitor gives contact details in return, entering your funnel.

[Lead Generation](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/lead-generation)

### Link Building

Link building is the process of earning backlinks from other websites to improve your site's search engine rankings and organic visibility, and it is the foundation of off-page SEO. Every link counts as a vote or reference from one page to another; links from authoritative, relevant sites raise your credibility. What matters is not the number of links but their quality.

[Link Building](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/link-building)

### Low-Hanging Fruit

Low-hanging fruit are the easy tasks and opportunities in marketing and SEO that deliver quick results with minimal effort. They don't require a big budget, specialist expertise or long team effort; their risk is low and they are easy to reverse. Seeing quick results lifts team motivation, and these basic improvements lay solid ground for more comprehensive optimization.

### Offline conversion

An offline conversion is an outcome that happens outside the website after an ad click (a sale by phone, a qualified lead in the CRM, a signed contract) and is uploaded back to the ad platform to be matched with the related click or user. In Google Ads this is done with the GCLID or hashed customer data; in Meta, with the Conversions API.

[Offline conversion](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/offline-conversion)

### On-Page SEO

On-page SEO covers everything you control on the page itself to make it rank and convert: content quality and relevance, HTML elements such as titles and headings, internal structure and usability. It is distinct from technical SEO, which concerns how a site is built, and off-page SEO, which concerns its reputation elsewhere.

[On-Page SEO](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/on-page-seo)

### Open Source Software

Open source software is software whose source code is made available to everyone under a license, so anyone can freely view, inspect, modify and distribute it. In closed source software the code is the company's trade secret; here development is carried out by a worldwide community. WordPress, Linux, Android and Firefox are common examples, and for businesses the model makes a difference in cost, flexibility and vendor independence.

[Open Source Software](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/open-source-software)

### Original Content

Original content means more than passing a plagiarism check. It is content that carries a perspective, evidence or experience that does not already exist elsewhere. As AI makes producing text trivial, originality becomes the thing that separates content worth reading from a rearrangement of what is already published.

[Original Content](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/unique-content)

## P

### Page Load Time

Page load time is the total time from a user's click to the moment a page is fully displayed and interactive. It is not one event but a sequence: request, server response, download, render. It affects search visibility, conversion and how long people stay, which makes it a business metric rather than a purely technical one.

[Page Load Time](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/loading-time)

### Proof of Concept

A proof of concept is a small-scale test built to verify that an idea can actually work before committing to full development. It answers one question — is this feasible? — and deliberately ignores design, polish and usability. Its value is in exposing technical dead ends cheaply, while the cost of stopping is still low.

[Proof of Concept](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/proof-of-consept)

## R

### Reverse ETL

Reverse ETL is the process of sending data that has been unified and modeled in a data warehouse (customer scores, segments, lifetime value) back to operational systems such as the CRM, ad platforms and email tools. Unlike classic ETL, data flows from the warehouse to the tools, so teams can use analysis in their day-to-day work.

[Reverse ETL](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/reverse-etl)

### RevOps

RevOps (revenue operations) is the operations function that manages the processes, tools and data of marketing, sales and customer success teams around a single revenue goal. CRM management, lead definitions and handoff rules between teams, revenue reporting and tool integrations are usually the RevOps team's responsibility.

[RevOps](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/revops)

### RLSA

RLSA (remarketing lists for search ads) is a Google Ads feature that lets you target lists of users who have visited your site before in your Google search campaigns, or bid differently for them. It adds the user's past interaction with you on top of the keyword, so your budget goes to a warm audience that is closer to converting.

[RLSA](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/rlsa)

### ROAS

ROAS (return on ad spend) is a marketing metric that measures the revenue earned for each unit of money spent on advertising. It is calculated by dividing the total revenue from ads by the total ad cost; a 4:1 ROAS means 4 TL of revenue for every 1 TL spent. Because it measures financial success rather than engagement, it shows which campaigns are profitable and where to shift budget.

[ROAS](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/roas)

### Robots.txt

Robots.txt is a simple text file in your site's root directory that tells search engine bots which sections to crawl and which to leave alone. It works with the User-agent, Disallow, Allow and Sitemap directives, manages crawl budget and protects server resources. However, blocking crawling does not block indexing; that takes a noindex tag.

[Robots.txt](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/robots-txt)

### ROI

Return on investment measures how much profit an investment produced relative to what it cost. Expressed as a percentage or ratio, it answers a single question: for every unit spent, how much came back as profit? Its simplicity is why it travels across departments, and also why it hides things worth knowing.

[ROI](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/roi)

## S

### Schema.org

Schema.org is the shared structured-data vocabulary used to describe the meaning of web page content to search engines in a machine-readable way. Started by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Yandex, its types such as Organization, Article, Product and FAQPage are usually added to pages as JSON-LD, a script block that does not change what visitors see.

[Schema.org](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/schema-org)

### Search Engine Advertising

Search engine advertising is the practice of buying visibility on search results pages through paid listings. It runs on a pay-per-click model: advertisers bid on keywords, and an auction decides which ads appear and in what order. Its defining advantage is intent — you reach people at the moment they are searching.

[Search Engine Advertising](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/sea)

### Search Volume

Search volume is the number of times a keyword is searched in a given period, usually per month. It is the most basic measure of how popular a term is and how much traffic it could send. It is a starting point for keyword research, not a decision on its own.

[Search Volume](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/search-volume)

### Server-side tracking

Server-side tracking is a measurement method in which visitor behavior data is sent first to the company's own server instead of going straight from the browser to analytics and ad platforms, and is then forwarded to those platforms under rules you define. It gives you more control over the data, reduces browser-related data loss and makes it easier to enforce consent rules in a single place.

[Server-side tracking](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/server-side-tracking)

### SPF

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is an email authentication method, published as a TXT record in a domain's DNS, that lists which servers and services may send email on behalf of that domain. The receiving server uses this record to check whether an incoming email was sent from an authorized source.

[SPF](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/spf)

### Stay Time

Stay time is the total time a user spends actively engaging with your site during a single visit before leaving it. It shows how valuable people find your content, and search engines use engagement signals of this kind when assessing page quality. A long stay time raises the likelihood of conversion, signals a good user experience and deepens brand engagement.

### the AIDA Model

AIDA is a marketing funnel model that describes the consumer's journey from first meeting a brand to buying in four stages, awareness, interest, desire and action. It was introduced in 1898 by E. St. Elmo Lewis. Because the goal and the right channels change at each stage, it gives a practical framework for organizing campaign planning.

[the AIDA Model](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/aida)

### the Difference Between Daily Budget and Daily Spend

The daily budget is the average amount a campaign aims to spend per day; daily spend is the amount the platform actually spends that day. The two are rarely equal, because on high-opportunity days the platform can spend up to twice the budget, and on weak days it doesn't spend the full budget. The monthly total still won't exceed the level you set.

[the Difference Between Daily Budget and Daily Spend](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/google-ads-daily-budget)

### Tracking in Digital Marketing

Tracking is the process of systematically collecting, measuring and analyzing data about how users interact with a website, app or marketing campaign. The goal is to turn anonymous clicks into understandable user journeys and to base marketing decisions on hard data rather than assumptions. Its main benefits are understanding user behavior, measuring campaign performance, following conversions and calculating return.

## U

### Usability

Usability is how easily and reliably people can accomplish what they came to do. It is a measurable property — can users complete the task, how long does it take, how many errors do they make — which distinguishes it from user experience, a broader idea that includes how the whole encounter felt.

[Usability](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/usability)

### User Experience

User experience (UX) is the sum of all the perceptions, emotions and experiences a person has when interacting with a product, system or service; it covers usefulness, efficiency and accessibility. UI is about how a product looks, while UX is about how it works and how it feels. It has a direct effect on customer loyalty, conversion rates and development costs.

### What Are Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs are a secondary navigation system that shows users which page they are on and where that page sits in the site hierarchy. They are usually shown as a path starting from the homepage and let users go back up a level with one click. Because they strengthen internal linking, make navigation easier and pave the way for rich results, they are valuable for both SEO and user experience.

[What Are Breadcrumbs](https://www.roicool.com/en/glossary/breadcrumbs)

### What Are Meta Ads

Meta Ads is the advertising system of Meta, covering Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and the Audience Network. Its defining strength is targeting: campaigns can be aimed at audiences defined by demographics, interests, behaviour and location, which lets advertisers reach narrow segments across several platforms from one place.
