# GEO content

GEO content is content structured so that generative AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can choose it as a source when they answer a question. Roicool writes it with a self-contained definition at the top, data from named sources, real tables and visible FAQs.

- Your pages rank on Google but are not cited as sources in AI answers.
- Your competitors are quoted in ChatGPT and Perplexity; you are not.
- Your content is long, but the answer sits deep in the text.
- Your content has no sources, dates or author information.

### Page structure

A 40–60 word definition at the top of every page that can be quoted on its own; the first paragraph under each H2 answers that section's question. More than half of citations come from the first 30 per cent of a page (Otterly, 2026).

### Evidence

At least one named, dated data point in the first third of the page; figures tied to a case study, with the method stated.

### Tables and FAQs

Comparisons as HTML tables, not images; questions and answers as plain text on the page.

### Author and freshness

A named author and reviewer, and a visible last-updated date.

### Restructuring existing content

Applying this structure to existing pages in order of traffic and commercial value. For work focused on question-and-answer structure, see [AEO](https://www.roicool.com/en/services/aeo).

2. **Restructuring existing pages**
3. **New content briefs and production**
4. **Monthly measurement:** citations and mentions. We run the baseline and follow-up measurement with [Ossvy, the software we built](https://ossvy.com).

## FAQ

### Is GEO content different from SEO content?

The foundation is the same: content written for people, answering a question and technically accessible. GEO content adds a citable structure: a self-contained definition at the top, data from named sources, real tables, visible FAQs and a clear answer in the first paragraph of every section.

### Do we need separate pages or an llms.txt file for AI?

No. The page is written for people; the structure is arranged for the engine. There is no need to rewrite or chunk content specially for AI; improving the structure of your existing pages is enough.

### Can you make our existing content GEO-ready?

Yes; most projects start there. We first pick the pages with the most traffic and the highest commercial value and add a definition block, evidence, tables and FAQs; then we move on to new content.

### Does long content get cited more?

A public 2026 study shows that long pages are cited more often, but length is not a goal in itself. Content that covers a topic completely, with a clear structure and sources, matters more.

### How do you measure results?

Every month we run a fixed set of the questions the content targets in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Mode and record whether the page is cited as a source. We add AI referral data from Search Console and GA4.
