# Marketing data warehouse

A marketing data warehouse is a setup where data from ad platforms, GA4, the CRM and sales systems is collected in a single database, cleaned and joined with shared definitions. Roicool usually builds the marketing data warehouse on BigQuery and feeds Looker Studio reports from this single source.

### What is a marketing data warehouse?

A setup where ad platform, GA4, CRM and sales data are collected, cleaned and joined in a single database, usually BigQuery. Reports and analysis run from this one source.

### Why BigQuery?

GA4's raw data export goes to BigQuery, and BigQuery integrates natively with Google's ad and reporting tools. If you use a different data warehouse, we can apply the same approach there.

### Is a data warehouse overkill for a small company?

With one channel and little data, platform reports may be enough. Once you run several ad channels, have a long sales cycle and need to join CRM data, a data warehouse saves time.

### How do you move the data?

Through the platforms' native exports (GA4, Google Ads), data pipeline tools or API integrations. The choice depends on the data sources, volume and budget.

### How is personal data protected in the data warehouse?

Wherever possible, personal data is hashed or not moved at all, access is limited by role and retention periods are defined. The legal assessment is done with your legal counsel.
