# Server-side tracking

Server-side tracking is a measurement method in which visitor data goes first to the company's own server, rather than straight from the browser to ad and analytics platforms, and is then forwarded to those platforms by set rules. Roicool builds it with server-side Google Tag Manager and feeds Meta Conversions API and Google enhanced conversions from the same setup.

- Meta's and Google's algorithms are learning from too little data; campaigns are unstable.

Hosting for server-side Google Tag Manager, a first-party subdomain and cookie settings.

## FAQ

### Does server-side tracking get around ad blockers?

Partly. Sending data to your own server on a first-party domain reduces the effect of some browser-side blocking. It must not be used to override a user's consent choice: data from users who decline consent is not sent from the server either.

### How much does the server cost?

It depends on traffic volume and the hosting option (Google Cloud or managed sGTM services). We estimate the cost from your traffic before setup.

### Will it break our current GTM setup?

No. We build the server-side setup in parallel with your existing web container, compare and validate the data from both, and only then switch over.

### Which platforms can receive data from the server?

GA4, Google Ads (including enhanced conversions), Meta Conversions API, LinkedIn Conversions API, TikTok Events API and other systems that accept webhooks.

### Is server-side tracking safer under KVKK, Türkiye's data protection law?

It gives you more control over data, because you decide on the server which data reaches third parties and can filter out personal data. Compliance, though, depends on consent management and a legal basis; the technical setup alone does not make you compliant.
