Google Ads vs Microsoft Advertising:
Which one fits which business?

Google Ads serves ads on Google, where most searches in Türkiye happen, and on networks such as YouTube and Display; it is the main channel. Microsoft Advertising serves ads on Bing and partner sites and works in Türkiye, but its volume there is small. Export-focused B2B companies should treat it as a second channel.

Google Ads vs Microsoft Ads: the Google Ads logo and the words Microsoft Ads

In short

Which one for whom?

For almost any business selling to customers in Türkiye, Google Ads is the main search channel. Microsoft Advertising makes sense as a second channel for B2B companies that already run well-measured Google campaigns, sell into markets such as the US or UK, and want extra search volume for little extra work by importing those campaigns.

  • Google Ads is for

almost any business selling to customers in Türkiye; teams that need YouTube and Display alongside search and want to go deep on one main channel.

  • Microsoft Advertising is for

B2B companies with well-measured Google Ads campaigns that sell to businesses in the US, UK or Europe and want to test extra search volume with a small budget.

Prices and features change often; the details above come from each platform's own pages as of October 2026. Market share figures are StatCounter's measurement.

How the two platforms work

Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising run on the same model: someone searches, advertisers bid on that search, and an auction decides whether an ad shows and what it costs. Keywords, match types, ad copy, extensions, bid strategies and conversion tracking are set up with largely the same logic on both.

The difference is where the ads appear. Google Ads serves ads across Google surfaces such as Google Search, YouTube, the Display network, Gmail and Discover. According to Microsoft's help page, Microsoft search ads can appear on Bing, AOL, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia and search partners, and Audience ads on MSN, Microsoft Start, Microsoft Edge, Outlook and publisher partners.

So the real question is not "which is better?" but "which search engine does my customer use?"

Search share in Türkiye: what the numbers say

By StatCounter's measurement for September 2026, search engine shares in Türkiye across all platforms were: Google 73.42%, Yandex 25.19%, Bing 0.71%. On desktop only: Google 77.77%, Yandex 19.44%, Bing 1.8%. These figures come from StatCounter's own measurement method; they are not the same thing as ad impression volume, but the direction is clear.

The upshot: for a campaign aimed at customers in Türkiye, the extra volume from Microsoft Advertising is small, and the main budget belongs in Google Ads. Yandex's share stands out too, but it is outside the scope of this comparison.

Export markets can look very different. An exporter or software company selling to businesses in the US, UK or Germany should assess Microsoft Advertising separately. The rule is to look at data for your own target market; don't carry the Türkiye figure over to another market.

Price and budget

Neither platform has a list price. Cost per click depends on keyword competition, your bid strategy and ad quality.

Google Ads. Budget is set per campaign as an average daily budget. Google says that for most campaigns spend on a given day can reach twice the average daily budget, while monthly spend stays within 30.4 times it. As Google puts it, bid amounts are ultimately up to you, and they should reflect what a click is worth to your business.

Microsoft Advertising. Microsoft's own sign-up page says there is no minimum spend, you pay only per click, and the daily budget is under your control.

Our advice is to start Microsoft Advertising with a small, bounded test: import your best-performing Google search campaigns, measure them against the same conversion definition, and after a few weeks compare cost per lead and lead quality with Google.

Features and Türkiye's gaps

Google Ads offers a wide range of campaigns: Google's help page lists Performance Max, Search, Display, Video, App and Shopping as the core types, and there are others such as Demand Gen and AI Max.

Microsoft Advertising also offers search, Audience, Display, online video, Shopping and Performance Max campaigns. But Microsoft's market list is worth reading. As of October 2026:

  • Turkey is among the markets where Microsoft Advertising shows ads.
  • Display and online video ads are available everywhere except the Bahamas, China, Egypt, Paraguay and Venezuela.
  • Microsoft Shopping campaigns are available in Türkiye.
  • Turkey is not on the lists for in-market audiences or automated extensions.
  • LinkedIn profile targeting is offered globally, but the underlying consumer data covers only the listed markets; the list includes countries such as the US, Canada, India, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and not Türkiye.

That last point matters for B2B. LinkedIn profile targeting (company, industry, job function) is Microsoft Advertising's clearest difference from Google, but it doesn't work for users in Türkiye. For an exporter trying to reach decision-makers in the US, it is a real advantage.

Language. Microsoft's language page lists Turkish both as an ad language and as an interface language. Microsoft also notes that support may not be available in every language. In Microsoft Advertising, ad language and location targeting work together; both must match for an ad to show.

Setup: importing from Google

Microsoft Advertising's most practical feature is direct import of Google Ads campaigns. According to Microsoft's help page, you sign in to your Google Ads account, bring campaigns over with a quick import or a customised one, and can schedule the import; importing several Google Ads accounts is possible too. Microsoft also supports imports from Meta Ads and Pinterest Ads.

Import doesn't solve everything. Microsoft notes that some items and settings need special attention during import. After the import, always check bids, budgets, location and language targeting, extensions and the conversion tag (UET). Moving a Google account that doesn't work into Microsoft moves its problems too, so audit the Google account first. Our Google Ads account audit checklist is a good place to start.

B2B measurement: sending closed leads back

In B2B, a form fill is not a sale. Both platforms need to learn what happened to the lead so that bid strategies work toward the right goal.

Google Ads supports offline conversion import with the GCLID and recommends that advertisers who haven't set this up yet start with enhanced conversions for leads. Microsoft Advertising supports offline conversion import with the Microsoft Click ID (MSCLKID); Microsoft's documentation says to wait two hours after creating an offline conversion goal before sending data. On both sides, your CRM must store the click ID on the lead record.

KVKK. If offline conversion uploads include hashed emails or phone numbers, that can mean transferring personal data to a platform abroad. Under KVKK Art. 9, without an adequacy decision you need an appropriate safeguard such as a standard contract (Art. 9(4)(c)), and a standard contract must be notified to the Authority within five working days of signing (Art. 9(5)). We set up cookie consent and tag rules with your legal counsel in our Consent Mode service; the legal assessment belongs to your counsel.

Which one, when?

Choose Google Ads as your main channel if: your customers are in Türkiye (which means almost every domestic business), you need networks such as YouTube and Display alongside search, and you want to focus on one platform.

Add Microsoft Advertising as a second channel if: your Google Ads campaigns have working conversion tracking, you sell to companies in the US, UK or Europe, you have hit volume limits on Google, and you have budget to try an extra channel with a small test.

If you're unsure: make sure your Google Ads account is healthy first; a second channel magnifies measurement errors in the first. Frequently asked questions

Can we advertise in Türkiye with Microsoft Advertising?

Yes. Microsoft's market list includes Turkey among the markets where ads are shown, and Turkish is available both as an ad language and as an interface language. Some features are missing for Türkiye, though: Turkey is not on the lists for in-market audiences or automated extensions, for example.

How big is Bing in Türkiye?

By StatCounter's measurement for September 2026, across all platforms in Türkiye Google had 73.42%, Yandex 25.19% and Bing 0.71%; on desktop only, Bing had 1.8%. So campaigns aimed at Türkiye get little volume from Microsoft Advertising. Export markets can look very different, so check the market you sell to.

Can I bring my Google Ads campaigns into Microsoft Advertising?

Yes. Microsoft Advertising imports campaigns directly from Google Ads, as a one-off or on a schedule. After the import, still check bids, budgets, targeting and the conversion tag (UET); not every setting has an exact match.

Is there a minimum budget for Microsoft Advertising?

Microsoft's own sign-up page says there is no minimum spend, you pay only per click and you set a daily budget. In Google Ads you also set the budget; Google says that for most campaigns daily spend can reach twice the average daily budget, while monthly spend stays within 30.4 times it.

In B2B, can we send leads that became sales back to both platforms?

Yes. Google Ads supports offline conversion import with the GCLID and enhanced conversions for leads; Microsoft Advertising supports offline conversion import with the Microsoft Click ID (MSCLKID). Both need your CRM to store the click ID on the lead record. If you send hashed emails or phone numbers, review KVKK with your legal counsel.
