Enrollment season is a calendar job, not an always-on budget
In education, demand is not spread evenly across the year. Parents start researching schools in September and October, decisions come closer around report cards and the semester break, applications peak in the second term with open days and scholarship exams, and the summer leaves late deciders and families moving to a new city. If the budget is spent evenly all year, it falls short in the most expensive weeks and goes to waste in the quietest ones. So the plan is built backwards from the fixed dates of the MEB calendar and from your own event dates.
In the tool below, choose your institution type and your open day or scholarship exam dates; it shows the awareness, open day, application and final enrollment periods week by week for the 2026–2027 school year. In the second part, enter your spend and your inquiry, visit, application and enrollment numbers: it calculates the cost per inquiry, per visit and per enrollment, and names the weakest step in the funnel.

Weakest step: inquiry → visit on Meta (Instagram/Facebook) (10%; 21.8% across all channels). This channel brings the cheapest inquiries (300 TL), but only a tenth of its inquiries turn into a visit. Check the open-day reminder, how fast inquiries get an answer and the questions on the form.
Most expensive channel per enrollment: Meta (Instagram/Facebook), 20,000 TL (average 10,000 TL).
At this season's rates, 60 enrollments need about 1,223 inquiries, 267 visits and 143 applications, and a budget of 600,000 TL. The budget is spread across the calendar periods.

Definition
What is education marketing?
Education marketing is the work, planned around the enrollment calendar, of helping private schools, courses, language schools, study-abroad and corporate training companies reach parents, students and adult learners in search engines, on maps, on social media and in AI answers, collect applications and measure how many of them turn into enrollments.
- Private school
- the parents decide
- Courses and exam preparation
- student and parents
- Language school
- the adult learner
- Study abroad
- the student; the family shares the cost
- Corporate training
- B2B

Challenges
3 things that make student recruitment hard
At nursery and primary school, the decision is entirely the parents'. At middle and high school the student has more say, but the family still chooses the school and pays the fee. For courses, language schools and study abroad, the decision-maker is the adult learner. A message written for all three audiences at once fits none of them: parents ask about safety, the academic approach, transport and fees; students want to know about friends, clubs and the campus; adults compare length, certificates and class times.
Research starts months before the enrollment period. Content and SEO work has to be done ahead of it, and ads concentrated in the weeks when demand rises. A large share of applications comes by phone and WhatsApp, so these channels have to be part of the tracking too.
Filling in a form on Instagram is easy; enrolling takes a school visit, a meeting, sometimes an exam and a payment. If channels are judged by form count, the budget goes to the channel that brings the most forms and the fewest enrollments. The unit to measure is not the inquiry but the final enrollment.

Institution type
Differences by institution type
| Institution type | Who decides | What they look for | Main conversion step |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private school (nursery to high school) | The parents; at high school, parents and student together | Academic approach, safety, transport, fees and scholarships, exam results | A school tour or open day, the scholarship exam, pre-registration |
| Courses and exam preparation | High school students and parents; for adult courses, the learner | Programme, branch hours, mock exams, transport | Placement test, trial lesson, enrollment |
| Language school | The adult learner; for children's courses, the parents | Level, class times, length, certificate, online option | Level test, trial lesson |
| University promotion and study abroad | The student; the family shares the cost | Subject, country, fees, scholarships, visa, accommodation | An information meeting, the application file |
| Corporate training (B2B) | HR and line managers | Programme content, trainers, how results are measured | A quote request |
Corporate training companies run a B2B sales process; LinkedIn, B2B SEO and CRM-led work suit them.
Channel plan
A channel plan by enrollment period
The dates follow the 2026–2027 school calendar of MEB, Türkiye's Ministry of National Education; the period boundaries are our planning assumption for a private school, not dates set by law.
| Period | Channel | Goal | How it's measured |
|---|---|---|---|
| Awareness: 14 September – 15 November 2026 | SEO content, Google Business Profile, school films on YouTube and Instagram | Staying top of mind as parents start researching | Branded searches, profile views, video views |
| First promotion period: November – December 2026 (mid-term break 16–20 November) | Meta and Google ads, email and WhatsApp reminders | School tour and open day sign-ups | Open day sign-ups and attendance |
| Re-enrollment: January – February 2027 (report cards 22 January, mid-year break 25 January – 5 February) | Email, parent meetings, CRM | Current students enrolled for the new year | Re-enrollment rate |
| Peak applications: 8 February – April 2027 (mid-term break 8–12 March) | Google Search, Meta, remarketing, the scholarship exam page | Applications and exam sign-ups | Applications, exam sign-ups, cost per application |
| Final enrollment: May – 25 June 2027 | Search ads, CRM follow-up, phone | Deposit and contract | Final enrollments, cost per enrollment |
| Summer: 26 June – August 2027 | Local search, maps, search ads | Families after the LGS and families moving to the city, open places | Late enrollments, places filled |
For courses and language schools, the calendar shifts with the mid-year and summer breaks: mid-year camps, the summer term and early September are the main enrollment windows. At high-school level, the date of the LGS (Türkiye's national high-school entrance exam) is decisive; MEB has not yet announced the 2027 date.
Channels
SEO
Website and SEO: pages that answer the parent's question
Parents don't search for a school in general terms; they ask concrete questions: fees and scholarships, the school bus route, meals, the foreign language programme, clubs, the date of the scholarship exam. According to Semrush data for Türkiye, in October 2026 the Turkish query for "scholarship exam" (bursluluk sınavı) had 40,500 searches a month and "private school fees" (özel okul fiyatları) 4,400. A separate page for each school level and campus, a page with the scholarship exam's date and sign-up, a page that sets out fees and scholarship terms clearly and an open day sign-up page answer these questions. For courses, programme and branch pages do the same job; for language schools, level and course pages.
Local
Local visibility: Google Business Profile and maps
Distance decides a lot when choosing a school or a course; parents search for "nursery near me" or by neighbourhood name. Each campus and branch needs its own Google Business Profile with the right category, address, opening hours, photos and current open day information. Replying to reviews and keeping the profile in line with the campus page on your site help you be recognised correctly both on maps and in AI answers.
Ads
Ads: Google Search, Instagram and YouTube
Google search ads catch parents looking to enroll: searches for the institution's name, a school level and a neighbourhood, the scholarship exam and open days. On Meta (Instagram and Facebook), the audience is parents and adult learners; ads lead to sign-ups for an open day, a school tour or a trial lesson. On YouTube, school and campus films carry the awareness period. The budget moves with the calendar: it peaks in the six weeks before an open day and in the first months of the second term, and drops in summer depending on how many places are left. Results are judged by visits and final enrollments, not by form count.

Parents and students
Separate messages for parents and students, and the rules on advertising to minors
The main target of the ads is the parent. One reason is that the parent decides; the other is the platforms' rules: Google shows no personalised ads of any kind to users under 18. On Meta, targeting for ads aimed at teens is limited to age and location. The message for a high school student goes into organic content they also see and onto the school's pages, not into an interest-targeted ad. Education is not one of Meta's special ad categories (housing, employment, financial products, social issues), so targeting adult learners and parents follows the standard rules.
Open days
Open days and school tours: from sign-up to follow-up
An open day campaign is planned backwards from the date. Our default is for ads to start six weeks before the event. The sign-up page shows the date, time, programme and number of places; the form asks only what's needed: the parent's name, phone number, the child's age or grade, the school level of interest. Parents who sign up get a confirmation message and a reminder the day before the event. After the event, each family moves to a stage in the CRM: met, applied, sat the exam, enrolled, dropped out. Those who didn't come are offered a second date or a private school tour.

How are enrollments reported to the ad platforms? A form submission alone is not made a primary conversion. Each inquiry carries its source (campaign, click ID) into the CRM in hidden fields; the visit and final enrollment stages are reported back to Google Ads as offline conversions and to Meta through the Conversions API. Google requires the time between the click and the conversion not to exceed 14 or 90 days, depending on the data source; for a family that clicks in October and enrolls in May, the platform learns from the visit stage, and the enrollment is read from the CRM in the report.

Rules
Regulations and platform rules
In Türkiye, private schools and courses are subject to Law no. 5580 on Private Education Institutions. Under article 7, publishing false or misleading advertisements or notices, and using students' pictures or details in advertisements or notices, carries an administrative fine of five times the gross minimum wage; on a repeat the fine is applied fivefold, and a third offence cancels the institution's operating permit. So visuals of the "our top-ranking students" kind and named lists of results should not be used in ads. Guaranteed results, ranking promises and comparisons that can't be verified are also risky under general commercial advertising law; the Regulation on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices has separate provisions for ads aimed at or affecting children. Parents' and students' data is subject to KVKK, Türkiye's data protection law; forms carry the privacy notice and the consent for commercial messages separately, and for students under 18 the parent's or guardian's details are collected. Universities and study-abroad consultancies are outside the scope of Law 5580; general advertising law and their own regulators' rules apply to them. The legal framework is set with your legal adviser.

Who this is not for
- Institutions that don't record applications in any system and don't plan to: channels can't be compared.
- Institutions that can't fix their open day and scholarship exam dates before the campaign starts.
- Teams that can't reply to phone and WhatsApp inquiries the same day.
- Institutions that are full with a waiting list: re-enrollment and brand work come first.
Digital marketing for education FAQ: common questions
Which channels work for educational institutions?
Search engines where parents and students do their research (program, city and comparison queries), local SEO and Google Business Profile, awareness and retargeting on Meta and YouTube, and search ads during enrollment periods.
When should we start preparing for enrollment season?
Research starts months before enrollment opens. Content and SEO work should be done ahead of the season, and ads concentrated in the weeks when demand peaks; last year's Search Console and CRM data show the timing.
What should we watch out for in education ads?
Guaranteed results, ranking promises and unverifiable comparisons are risky under advertising law, and the institution is also subject to its own regulator's rules. Copy should be based on provable information and go through a legal check.
How do we measure where applications come from?
By adding source fields to application and inquiry forms, measuring phone and WhatsApp inquiries with call tracking, and sending enrollment outcomes from the CRM back to the ad platforms.
Do you also work with corporate training companies?
Yes. Academies and consulting firms that sell training to companies run a B2B sales process; work focused on LinkedIn, B2B SEO and the CRM suits them.
